El Malecón infinito was born as my first installation. I currently live in Madrid and the wave of Cubans who have arrived in this city in recent years is historic, due of course to the sad reality that my country is going through. Therefore, I wanted to bring a Malecón for all of them. The Malecón is Havana's promenade, the sofa of the city as they say, that wall that separates us from the sea and then, the rest of the world. For the habanero, it means a lot. Playing with mirrors I wanted, besides bringing it, to recreate how I imagine it nowadays. Empty and infinite. Almost all my close ones live outside Cuba, and they have something in common when they come back to visit they find that practically nobody is left. That is why I imagine it this way, eternal, lonely.
El malecón infinito nace como mi primera instalación. Actualmente vivo en Madrid y la oleada de cubanos que han llegado a esta ciudad en los últimos años es histórica, debido por supuesto a la triste realidad que atraviesa mi país. Por ello, quería traer un malecón para todos ellos. El malecón es el paseo marítimo de La Habana, el sofá de la ciudad, como le dicen, ese muro que nos separa del mar y luego, el resto del mundo. Para el habanero significa mucho. Jugando con espejos quise, además de traerlo, recrear el cómo lo imagino actualmente. Vacío e infinito. Casi todos mis seres cercanos viven fuera de Cuba, y tienen algo en común, cuando regresan de visita se encuentran que prácticamente no les queda nadie. Por ello lo imagino así, eterno, solitario..
